An extension of Dubai-based Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts, the luxury hotel group has just opened the doors to its all new Park Lane 'Grosvenor House Apartments' and I count myself extremely fortunate to have been amongst the very first to experience them. Although much like a hotel in many respects, the Grosvenor House Apartments marks the group's first foray into the business of serviced residences in the UK, following their successful introduction of such developments in Jumeirah Living's World Trade Centre Residence in Dubai. Situated in the heart of Central London in a prime Mayfair location along Park Lane, the Grosvenor House Apartments boasts one of the most prestigious postcodes in the Capital with stunning views over-looking Hyde Park. The residences themselves range from studios to their ultra-luxurious five-bedroom penthouses complete with private balconies running the length of the building. With views over Park Lane and Mayfair and the use of a self-drive Aston Martin Rapide for getting around, every desire and requirement is catered for. READ MORE

This week we find ourselves shoe-shopping in the quirkily stylish Seven Dials' Poste Mistress. Situated in the heart of London's Covent Garden, this private boutique is a hidden gem amongst its bustling surroundings. On the exterior, the quaint lilac hue of its shell can be seen from a distance along the cobbled streets of the West End. Upon stepping into the boutique, you become immersed in the utopic shoe heaven host to a meticulously selected collection of brands which showcase the boutique's individual character. The store's kaleidoscopic array of footwear serve the aesthetic well, creating a sweet sundae of colours that sent me floating off into a nostalgic journey through my childhood trips to the traditional sweetie shops. Inside, the signature Poste Mistress décor comprises of an elaborate gold-framed mirror hanging from a feature wall of vintage wallpaper. Shoes are delicately placed on rococo fittings amid a multitude of retro ornaments, trinket boxes and vintage postcards, whilst a velvet chaise lounge furnished with intricately embroidered antique cushions stands alone in the centre of the boutique on which customers may sit while they try on shoes. The staff are personable and happy to devote time helping customers, evoking the old-fashioned intimacy of a Parisian Couture Salon and making for a pleasurable shopping experience. READ MORE
